Jerome Witkin

Jerome Witkin is a formidable contemporary American figurative artist whose work deals with political, social and cultural themes.

Witkin studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Cooper Union, the Berlin Academy, and the University of Pennsylvania. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, widely exhibited and served as faculty of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Manchester College of Art, Moore College of Art, and in 1971 became a professor of art at Syracuse University.

Witkin's work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Uffizi, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum.
